    Since what you describe is placing a leaky, by design, container full of wet material on top of an electrical motor, it is only a matter of time before an electrical fire ensues. Even with the addition of a drip tray, it will be very hard to not get any water on the fan motor. In addition, you would need to raise the fan above the ground at least 6 inches or so so that the fan could create some airflow. Doesn’t sound like the best use of a window fan IMHO.
