ERYNGIUM ‘Miss Willmott’s Ghost’ (Seed)

Description

A stately perennial, with rosettes of green heart shaped basal leaves exploding into tall umbels of large green flowers maturing to silver, with prickly grey bracts in late summer. Cut flower potential and bee and butterfly attractant. Short lived perennial.

Average content per packet: 30 seeds

SOWING:

February – April or September – October

Indoors – in seed trays which require a period of cold to germinate.

Outdoors – Where the flowers are to bloom

Indoors – Sow in seed trays, covering lightly with vermiculite. Seal container in a polythene bag, then give 2 weeks at 18-20°C followed by 3-4 weeks either outside or in a refrigerator at 3-4°C (not freezing). Return to 18-20°C for germination.

Outdoors – Prepare the flowering site well in advance by removing all weeds and making a fine crumbly seed bed. Sow in lines covering lightly and watering in, or sow in seed trays in cold frame. Dormancy is broken by alternating cold and warm periods, so watch out for seedlings in spring.
