Cartoon Characters, who are Secret Stoners
Cartoon characters who you never saw lighting up on scree, but know were secret stoners…
1 & 2. Scooby Doo & Shaggy –
Everyone know these too are stoners. And the creators don’t even try to hide it.
For one thing, Scooby Doo’s middle name “Doobie” is a synonym for a joint and Shaggy is the “shaggie” looking hippie stoner.
They always have the munchies, giggle all the time and even get a bit paranoid at times. They live in a “mystery van” (which leaves clouds of smoke in its wake), disappear for long stretches of time and display general confusion. Scooby and shaggy are clearly high for the entirety of the show.
Oh, and in the 2002 movie, Shaggy fall in love with a girl called Mary-Jane. Coincidence?
3. Patrick Star – Spongebob
Patrick Star live under a rock and wears bikini bottoms. And if thats not enough his antics are that of a typical stoner. He’s always eating, forgetting things mid-conversation, making stupid observations about the world and when he’s not that, he’s sleeping.
During the 1920s and 1930s the era when Popeye was created, “Spinach” was a popular slang term for marijuana. In addition, anti marijuana propaganda of the time claimed that marijuana use induced super-strength.
With this information, maybe the super-strength Popeye got wasn’t from eating spinach as the creators would have us believe, but from another green herb. Popeye has also been know to smoke his spinach at times. which begs the question: “What’s really in Popeye’s pipe?”
5. Snorlax – Pokemon
The only thing this pokemon does is eat and sleep. Sounds like he’s your typical indica stoner.
6. Michelangelo – Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
Michelangelo was the ‘Party Dude’ of the group and everyone knows that the party dude in a group of teenagers is the one who’s smoking weed.
Everything from the way he talks to his insatiable appetite leads us to believe he has a secret stash somewhere.
The Partnership for a Drug-Free America had a PSA that featured Michelangelo suggesting a kid who was offered pot get some pizza to go with it, but Donatello was there to shoot the idea down.
7. Stimpy – Ren and Stimpy
There was something off about both these characters. And could both have been puffing on the reefer, which could explain the bizarre and unusual situations they would get themselves into.
But if not both Stimpy was definitely high all the time. He was so high, he couldn’t even keep his tongue in his mouth, and he was way too laid back and completely oblivious to the fact that his actions were bothering his room Ren. That pair with the fact that he was always hungry leads me to believe he was getting high on a regular basis.
Garfield hated Mondays, and spent all his time at home sleeping or eating. He couldn’t fit the stoner stereotype more if he tried.
9. Winnie the Pooh
A overweight bear never able to find his pants and always on the hunt for his favourite snack – honey. With his belly always forcing his shirt up, honey smear on his face and hands and a general tendency towards clumsiness, Winnie the Pooh is a typical stoner always looking for snacks.
Its hard to imagine Pooh didn’t smoke some trees in the Hundred Acre Woods.
10. Speedy Gonzales
Speedy Gonzales embodies the anti-stereotypical stoner – fast, motivated and cunning. His cousin and presumed smoking partner “Slow Poke Rodriguez”is always on the hunt for food.
Here’s speedy singing “La Cucaracha”, not missing a beat of the lyric which translates to: “The roach, the roach, can’t walk any more. Because it needs, because it needs, marijuana to smoke.”
